Anna Silman is the senior culture writer at New York Magazine’s The Cut. She writes about film, TV, books, celebrity, feminism, sex, crime, psychology, and the intersection of politics and entertainment. As The Cut has grown to become one of the most influential feminist news outlets, Anna has become a leading voice in the women’s media landscape. Her writing has helped usher in a new era of feminist journalism that focuses on substantive issues of political activism, sexual equality, and social justice. She has written extensively about the #MeToo movement and interviewed prominent women such as Kamala Harris, Lupita Nyong’o, Aidy Bryant, Carrie Brownstein, Lena Dunham, and many others. Last year, she made a podcast with Gimlet about the rise of the alt-right in Canada. Before moving to New York for graduate school at NYUl in 2012, she studied English/Cultural Studies at McGill University. She grew up in Toronto and London.
