THE BEST PART ABOUT OUR SPACE IS THE COMMUNITY OF WORKERS WHO FILL IT UP. MEET THE WERKER IS AN INSTALMENT WHERE YOU TO GET TO KNOW THE PEOPLE WHO WORK AT THE LAB – FROM WHAT THEY DO TO WHAT THEIR GOALS ARE AND HOW CO-WORKING IS CHANGING THE WAY THEY WORK. FIRST UP, MEET CHANTAL RUSSELL.
Chantal can't help it, her days are packed but that's the way she likes it – Chantal is a woman on the move. She is a killer yogi – we know first-hand because she does a weekly werkbreak at the lab with a mini yoga session – runs a thriving business, is a mom, leads yoga and desire map workshops and travels abroad to teach her practice. Now, she is about to embark on her latest endeavour as an author. Needless to say, this lifestyle guru is entering a pretty exciting time in her professional career and we couldn't be happier to be part of her weekly routine. Meet Chantal:
Werklab: Who are you?
Chantal Russell: I am an aspiring author, lifestyle entrepreneur, yoga teacher, nutritionista and mama.
WL: What do you do?
CR: I remind people to cherish their breath and love their life. Through yoga, holistic nutrition, creativity and empowered living, I teach the importance of moving your body, nourishing your soul and liberating your light. I run a yoga studio on Bowen Island, manage the yoga and nutrition program at the Orchard Recovery Centre, am on the faculty at the Vancouver School of Yoga and lead Desire Map yoga workshops locally and throughout Europe.
WL: How does community improve your work? How does it encourage you?
CR: I believe creativity is contagious and am inspired by the creativity of others. I'm encouraged by all the ways people innovate and create beauty in the world through various mediums whether it is great copy, graphic design or interesting photography.
WL: Why do you choose to work in a co-working space?
CR: I love being and staying inspired. Being an entrepreneur can sometimes be a lonely endeavour which is why I choose to work in a space with other creative minded people. Werklab is a great place to build meaningful connections, learn from other industries and continue my personal and professional growth process. It is way more fun and (and productive) to work here rather than a crowded coffee shop or a lonely home office.
WL: What is your current goal?
CR: I am currently working on my first book aimed to launch October 2017. That is why my current goal is to write like it is my job – because it is.
WL: What is coming up for you and how can we participate in what you're doing?
CR: I will be leading a Desire Map + yoga workshop from October 22 to 23 on Bowen Island. Come up for the weekend, recharge in nature and re-connect with the things you most want to feel in your life. I am also leading a 100-hour yoga immersion on Bowen Island taking place the first weekend of every month from November to April.
WL: Where can we find you?
